Should've, Would've, Gotta Have It! Part 1: Food

We hear it multiples times a week, maybe even in a DAY: “Should we have…?” “Do we need…?” “What are other couples doing?” These are good driving questions to gain ideas and inspiration to create your wedding day to be the most beautiful and personal day for you and your soon-to-be-spouse! But what about the smaller, detailed decisions that just nag at you to include? We have a saying in this industry that says, “They’ll notice if it’s there, and if it’s not, they won’t.”

Let’s start with FOOD! We encourage our couples to get excited about the things they care about, and many times food is at the top of that list. There are so many options for service style: Buffet, stations, plated, and family style! A lot of the time, this part of the wedding planning comes down to budget and personal preference. If your vibe for the day is more relaxed and communal, then a plated meal for you and your guests probably is not the best option for your dinner service.

If you’re asking yourself the question, “Should we (fill in the blank) because everyone else is doing it?” then we would shift the thinking to what is it that you care about? How do you want you and your guests to feel when being served a meal? You can compare this to the feeling you get when you either go out or stay in to eat with your significant other, friends or family! Do you enjoy your time together because the meal was served right in front of you to present a beautiful placement of aromas and colors? Or do you enjoy passing around platters and bowls full of food to share with the people at your table?

Your wedding day is maybe one of the only days in your life that your closest family and friends come together to meet, eat, enjoy, and celebrate the union of two people coming together to start their lives together in the union of marriage. We try to bring the pressure down and draw the perspective out so that when it comes to decisions like catering and food, it’s a no-brainer! Because of the ease that comes with what you and your partner enjoy together.
