Covid Grad Pop Up Party!

2020 has been absolutely nutty and everyone has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, including the high school and college graduating classes! While online classes and mid-semester tweaks seemed easy enough, bring on the cancelled proms, senior celebrations, graduations and grad parties and suddenly things seem a little overwhelming! </3 Even as someone who was pretty laid back about my own graduation, my heart ached for everyone who was missing out on their once in a lifetime moments, including my own sister-in-law!

While Haley had mentioned that the stress of the job hunt was weighing more heavily on her than missing out on graduation and celebrations, we could tell that she was still feeling a little bit down! When my wonderful mother-in-law texted me to see what we could come up with as far as a tiny quarantine celebration, I had to jump on it! ;) With Haley getting a degree in marketing and hoping to make her way into the world of fashion, we made the party semi-fashion themed and fully Haley-centric!

It’s amazing the things you can pull off during quarantine when you’ve spent the last year+ stocking up on party supplies! With the addition of a few bottles of bubbly, some faux flowers from one of my favorite companies (Compass Rose), and some grocery store bought balloons and wrapping paper, we were off!

We were able to surprise Haley by making her think she was going with us on a hike, but the day ACTUALLY consisted of hanging out with the family pups, playing virtual reality games, ordering Lazy Dog, and enjoying quality time with those we love most! Congratulations Haley, I can’t wait to see where you end up and I’m so sorry your senior year wasn’t what you expected! We love you so much!

Supplies for your own pop up party!:

Placesettings - chargers and salad plates spice up even the simplest settings! Napkin folds are also a passion of mine, it’s the little things! ;)

Centerpiece - don’t have flowers (real or faux)? Make paper flowers out of at home supplies or turn everyday objects (books, lanterns, candles) into a DIY centerpiece!

Extra decor - balloons and wrapping paper went a LONG way in transforming this space! I even wrapped some everyday items in wrapping paper to stack on the shelves! The other extras, like the framed magazine cover, were made easily online and we added some twinkle lights from Christmas to the table!

Food/Drink - elevate simple elements with household ingredients! We made some sparkling water with lemon, added dried flowers to our ice (for display only!), and decorated a simple cake with grocery store fondant and food coloring!
