One of the things I adore most about the wedding industry is the opportunity to get creative and make something out of nothing! After writing a blog about the ways in which couples can get creative with their engagement photos, I thought a styled shoot may be in order since a picture is worth a thousand words! I made a call to my girl Shelby Gloudemans and we got started!
When the day of the shoot arrived, Shelby, myself, and models Corinne and Joe met at The ART Hotel in Downtown Denver. Corinne and Joe are good friends of mine and are such a cute couple I just had to convince them to try their hand at modeling! They claimed to be nervous but pretty quickly realized they were naturals! We started with some incredible photos with the hotel and it’s phenomenal features as the backdrop, then made our way down to Civic Center Park for some outdoor shots!
It had been raining on and off all day but the rain subsided long enough for us to capture Corrine and Joe cuddling in the park! We may have made them sit on a bench that was more than a little damp, but the now professional models didn’t let it show! The torture didn’t last for too long because soon it was off to Frozen Matter for some sweet treats and even sweeter pics!
The staff at Frozen Matter was incredibly welcoming and willing to lend a helping hand, so it didn’t take long for us to get the photos we needed. Corinne and Joe felt very natural, as it is a location they would have come on a regular date, plus they got to enjoy some FANTASTIC ice cream! We got some fun shots with the mural as the backdrop, then headed outside for some in action photos of the two strolling hand in hand!
Our final stop was by the far the most “out of the box.” I had seen some photos of couples doing engagement and wedding portrait sessions in places like Taco Bell, so we decided to stop in to the Target on 16th Street Mall to get some of our own! Engagement photos are meant to reflect who you are as a couple and these photos did just that! Corinne and Joe are laid back and love spending time together on simple dates or running errands and find joy in the small things they get to do together.
We ended the night at The ART Hotel with a few photos of the entrance because it is spectacular! Thank you to Shelby for bringing my ideas to life and for making Corinne and Joe so comfortable! Not only was this my first styled shoot as a business owner, but it was a night to remember because I got to spend it with some seriously fantastic people!
